Review Motorola Edge S – This is the first Snapdragon 870 powered phone that Qualcomm released last week. But not only Snapdragon 870, Motorola Edge S also carries attractive specifications ranging from the trendy design which is equipped with multiple cameras along with a large battery and it is sold at an aggressive price.
The Motorola Edge S packs a punch-hole design with a 6.7-inch LCD flat screen that offers a resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, an aspect ratio of 21: 9, and supports 90Hz refresh rate.
The Motorola Edge S screen also supports HDR10 and DCI-P3 color gamut. Flipping the device, there is a curved panel coated with NVCM which makes it appear sparkling wrapped in two colorways namely Emerald Glaze and Emerald Light.
Another attraction that Motorola Edge S presents is in the photography sector, this phone carries a total of six cameras with four cameras on the back which are packed in a square camera module.
The four cameras consist of a 64 megapixel main camera combined with a 16 megapixel ultrawide camera with phase detection autofocus which can also double as a macro lens for taking 2.8cm close-up photos.
Furthermore, there is a 2 megapixel fixed focus depth sensor and finally a TOF lens surrounded by a luminous ring which is then accompanied by an LED flash just below it.
The two remaining cameras are for taking selfies and video calls built into a punch hole in the top left corner of the background. It includes a 16 megapixel primary camera and an 8 megapixel ultrawide camera.
Not to forget, Motorola has equipped this new smartphone with interesting photography features, including night mode, vlog mode, the ability to take 6K videos at 30fps or 4K at 60fps. But even more interesting is Audio Zoom to bring you closer to the sound source when recording.
The Motorola Edge S comes as the first Snapdragon 870 powered smartphone to have 12% higher CPU performance than the Snapdragon 865 while the GPU is 10% higher.
The Snapdragon 870 is built on a 7nm process which carries 1x Cortex-A78 main core clocked at 3.2GHz. That’s higher than the Snapdragon 865 which is clocked at 2.94 GHz or 3.13 GHz on the Snapdragon 865 Plus.
The Snapdragon 870 supports a 200 megapixel camera thanks to the Spectra 480 ISP, it has also been equipped with FastConnect 6800, Wi-Fi 6 support and a Snapdragon X55 modem to deliver 5G connectivity.
To help Snapdragon 870 work more optimally, the Motorola Edge S has embedded turbo LPDDR5 RAM between 6GB or 8GB which is 72% faster than LPDDR4 and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 turbo storage.
Another highlight of the Motorola Edge S is the large 5,000 mAh battery which allows it to continue to be used for exciting activities throughout the day.
There’s also dual-SIM support, SA / NSA dual-mode 5G connectivity with Smart Antenna, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, dual-frequency GPS, USB Type-C port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack not to be left behind in the package.
